Please check your tension/gauge BEFORE you try this pattern. If you don’t it will be massive! We want a taught, tight stitch not a loose, gaping stitch.
This pattern has been written in British Crochet in a large size with finished garment measurements of Waist = 16 -18 inches, rise = 18 inches, thigh = 10 - 12inches.

I wrote this pattern in response to a friends enquiry for a crochet soaker not made in the round, without short rows, but with extra room at the back to accomodate a cloth nappy.
The main body is crocheted, with knitted waist and cuffs. If you would like to crochet the waist and rib, use the following as a guide -
When main body is complete, sew the sides, then, Using a treble stitch work into the front of the first stitch, then the back of the second stitch, repeat these alternate stitches until all 79 waist band (50 ribcuff) sts have been worked. Join the round with a slip stitch. Ch 2, then using the first round as a guide match the stitches - so work into the front of a stitch that has been worked at the front and work into the back of a stitch that has been worked at the back - Work 3 rounds in total for the Waist band and 2 rounds in total for each leg cuff. you should get an effective rib effect :0)
I do plan to add sizes small, medium and X-Large as time allows and to add fully crocheted waist and cuffs.
